Don’t worry about someone stealing your idea
Here are my reasons why you shouldn’t worry about someone stealing your idea:
- To quote Derek Sivers: Ideas are just a multiplier of execution.
- Even if you have a great idea, it’s very likely that people won’t recognize it as such. Look at any list of unicorn companies and you’ll see pretty much all of them were rejected by a VC firm at some point.
It’s very likely that the downside of sharing your ideas is zero, but there’s a huge opportunity cost to not sharing them. In particular, keeping your ideas to yourself does nothing to increase your luck surface area.
