Qualities of a good leader

Responsibility

A good leader is responsible for the team and the teams results. She is quick to take accountability and delegate praise.

A good leader should feel a deep responsibility for the team members and their well-being. This also extends to loyalty; a good leader knows how to manage upwards to protect her team from the capriciousness of her managers. She’s not afraid to put herself on the line for the sake of the team.

Involvement

A good leader is not afraid to get her hands dirty. She would not ask someone to do something she would not be willing to do herself.

High standards

A good leader holds her team to high standards. This does not mean blindly making unreasonable demands; a good leader identifies your potential and challenges you to reach it.

Mission focus

A good leader is relentlessly focused on the mission.
